Many of the homes in the northwest valley of Phoenix, Glendale and Peoria are constructed in the traditional valley style of  stucco over wire mesh on a wood frame of either 2×4 or 2×6 construction. There are some homes made of block construction as well but less frequently. Most of the northwest valley has been built  recently, since  1998,  and are located in master planned communities controlled by home owners associations (HOA) which have covenants, conditions and restrictions (CC & R’s). You can also find many custom homes on 1 acre lots which often allow for the ownership of horses on the property. Whether a horse or a subdivision property, you will find most of these homes with  block fences. New home builder are still building in several of the subdivisions in Stetson Valley, Vistancia, Noterra, Sonoran Foothills and Sonoran Mountain.
